bullet

To facilitate the creation of new operas especially written for children of elementary/junior high age and adults to perform together and to enjoy.

bullet To enhance the lives of children by encouraging and facilitating their involvement in presentations of the operas as singers and instrumentalists, and in doing so to learn many skills in teamwork, individual excellence, self-esteem, lateral thinking, group discipline, working with adults, and of course musical and theatrical skills.
bullet

In particular, to encourage and facilitate the involvement of children from disadvantaged backgrounds and communities who would not otherwise have such opportunities.

bullet

To encourage and facilitate communities, both the communities of non-professional adults and especially the communities of opera professionals, both in Canada and internationally, to create and present productions of these operas, and by doing so to promote involvement in the arts.

bullet To link the children, adults and communities creating and presenting productions around the world, to exchange ideas and knowledge using the common experience of doing the operas, by using the web site, e-mail, chat rooms, direct exchange, and shared class projects. In doing so, to increase the understanding of other cultures and communities by children and adults.

bullet

To enhance the skills of adults and teachers creating and/or taking part in such productions.

bullet

To encourage professional opera companies to join with their own communities of children to present professional productions of KidsOperas that include professionals and children.

bullet To extend the opera literature for both children and adults by the creation of these operas.
