To facilitate the creation of new operas especially written for children of
elementary/junior high age and adults to perform together and to enjoy.

To enhance the lives of children by encouraging and facilitating their
involvement in presentations of the operas as singers and instrumentalists, and
in doing so to learn many skills in teamwork, individual excellence, self-esteem,
lateral thinking, group discipline, working with adults, and of course musical
and theatrical skills. |

In particular, to encourage and facilitate the involvement of children from
disadvantaged backgrounds and communities who would not otherwise have such
opportunities.

To encourage and facilitate communities, both the communities of non-professional
adults and especially the communities of opera professionals, both in Canada and
internationally, to create and present productions of these operas, and by doing
so to promote involvement in the arts.

To link the children, adults and communities creating and presenting
productions around the world, to exchange ideas and knowledge using the common
experience of doing the operas, by using the web site, e-mail,
chat rooms, direct exchange, and shared class projects. In doing so, to increase
the understanding of other cultures and communities by children and adults. |

To enhance the skills of adults and teachers creating and/or taking part in
such productions.

To encourage professional opera companies to join with their own communities
of children to present professional productions of KidsOperas that include
professionals and children.

To extend the opera literature for both children and adults by the creation
of these operas. |
