THE COYOTE by Corey Maygard
My name is Jeff . I was tracking through the cold
winter snow trying to hunt down dinner when I saw a coyote standing by
a tree. This coyote seemed unusual just looking at me with a blank look
on its face.
Something made me not shoot it.
I felt sad and puzzled at the same time. The coyote
looked at me like ready to cry. Then it jumped at me! I was ready to just
shoot, but when I aimed I noticed the coyote shivering. Was it the cold
? I don,t know.
When I turned the other way , two men where walking
through the woods.
The coyote wimpered . Then I noticed he,s going
to get killed. I ran fast the coyote close behind . I stopped then hid
the coyote in the bushes. She cooperated well. The men came running . Did
you see a coyote come this way? He said in a breathless voice.
Yes that way I said. The men went running the
oposite way of the coyote.
It,s okay I told the coyote. He turned into a
man . "I was testing you" he said. "To see if you can have
food on your table. Go home and you will have lot,s of food on your table.
We ate a good super that night.

One day there was
an old man who was walking by a ditch when he heard a strange noise. He
looked over in the ditch.
There were four little
cold pups laying by their dead mother. The old man grabbed the four pups
and carried them home and fed them. One day the old man released all the
coyotes except one. He named him Shooter.
Shooter was a fast
runner and a smart coyote.
The coyote and the
old man went to bed. The next morning they went outside and played. They
went back in. The old man fed the coyote. The coyote ran around the house.
The old man told the coyote to stop. The coyote didn't listen. The old
man told Shooter to stop. Shooter stopped. The old man was mad at the coyote.
The old man fed the coyote one last time and then he let him go. But the
coyote didn't leave. The old man got his rifle and scared the coyote away.
The coyote ran away. But the next day he came back. The old man got his
rifle and shot it. The bullet just about hit the coyote's paw.
The coyote ran away.
The coyote ran all the way back to his brothers and sisters.
The coyote went hunting
for food when he met a black bear. The coyote and the bear got in a fight.
The coyote scratched the bear. The bear hit the coyote and the coyote bit
the bear in the neck. The bear ran away. The coyote was bleeding. He went
back to the old man with the help of his brother and sisters. The old man
saw the coyotes. He helped Shooter and kept him and his brothers and sisters.
COYOTE

This is a true story of me (James) and my best
friend (Ken) and how we met up with a coyote...
One day Ken and I were visiting each other at
my house out in the country.
" I'm bored " said Ken
" Hey let's go and walk through the woods
" I suggested.
" O.K. " Ken said.
We told my dog Joe to stay home.( He wasn't allowed
out of the yard.)
We started into the woods and we were a couple
of meters away from each other when I heard Ken yell " Joe! "
Then I turned to see what Ken was yelling at.
Just then I saw the animal he yelled at "
That's not Joe " I whispered.
It was a coyote standing and staring at us!
It stood for a couple of minutes, then walked
away.
Perhaps it was as curious about us as we were
about it.
That night at supper we told my parents all of
what happened.

Hello my name is Coyote and I have a real bad enemy.
His name is Wolf. One day I tried to get rid of Wolf
by biting and clawimg him, but he heared me step on a branch and he turned
around. Then he saw me an he swiped my side with his sharp jagged claws.
I was pretty badly hurt so I ran off I could feel the warm red blood running
out of my body. I stopped and checked if I was bleeding real badly. I was
bleeding so badly,
if I didn't get help in a few hours I would die.
One and a half hour later I saw a house, but I passed out. A 19 year old
women came out and helped me. She took me in side of her house and she
stitched me up. I woke up and saw a beautiful lady named Lynelle her hair
dark as midnight, her eyes pretty as jewels. But she was a human and I thought
she would hurt me but she wanted to keep me as a pet." Are you going
to hurt me".
" No". I went over there and kissed her
in appreciation for saving me from dieing from lack of blood. Then both
of us heard howling. I looked out the window and it was Wolf with his pack.
They were heading right toward us. He saw me and showed his razor sharp
teeth.
I took her to the back door. We went out side and
told her to get to the top of the cabin. Wolf went around the cabin and
he saw me. He suddenly ran at me he jumed on me.He swiped me on my back.
I kept on swiping him on his face suddenly he fell to the ground and said
help me. Then his eyes rolled back. The rest of the wolves ran off.
The girl breathing heavily came down slowly off the
roof. Soon after that she said I better stitch and disinfect your wound.
She did and I said I can't stay, I put your life in to much danger so Im
going back to the wilderness in my natural environment. We said our goodbyes
and I left as the sun was setting. Then a few hours later Lynelle could
hear my howling at the moon.

THE COYOTE QUEST

One hundred years ago, a young coyote named Guess,
who was only four months old, lived on a shore in a hole under a house
. He was left behind by his mom. All he ate was dried fish , because he
had no one to help him catch food. When he got older he realized he had
to help other animals who were lost or left behind like him. He set off
! Every animal was afraid of him . He ran through the rain, snow, and over
the hills and through the rivers. But he kept on going. Finally he sat
down and rested and fell asleep. Then he herd a bang he stood up and started
dashing toward the noise. It was a gun !. It was after a racoon
.The coyote was frightend but he knew his destiny awaited him. Then Guess
pounced on the hunter .The hunter was sooo frightend he ran and
started triping all the way home. The raccon was so happy and suprised that
a coyote would help a racoon. The coyote know he was so glad that he could
do what he had to do. He fulfilled his dream.
BRAVO
by Lynelle Buskas
Once there was a
little boy named Sangoya. He had a pet coyote that his sister Raine hated.
Whenever Raine went out in the morning she would kick Bravo out of her
way. Bravo had told Sangoya about his evil coyote brothers Rake and Norse
who swore to take your life if you ever crossed their path. Sangoya tried
hard to keep his family away from their territory. Bravo tried hard to
please Raine but it never worked. One day Sangoya's mother told Raine and
him to go pick some berries from the left field. So Sangoya and Raine trailed
off to the left field - where Rake and Norse claimed their territory. You
cannot go there Sangoya exclaimed in a cold voice. Raine ignored him. Sangoya
sat down on a rock to take a rest with Bravo. Raine kept on going, until
they heard a scream. Sangoya and Bravo jumped up spontaneously.
" Its Raine"!
Sangoya ran after Ranie. He found her tied up with Rake and Norse preparing
a wonderful feast of her. "stop " shouted Bravo "spare the
girls life and take mine"
Rake and Norse pondered
for a minute then replied: "we wouldn't want to eat our own brother
so get what you need and get out of here, don't ever come back and we won't
eat any of you"
. Sangoya,Raine
and Bravo stumbled home through the meadow, silent as the trees.
When they reached
home Raine hesitated then said to Bravo
"Im sorry Bravo
for being so rude to you" Bravo forgave Raine as he settled down for
a long relaxing nap.
Coyote by Travis
One cold midwinter day, when the snow was falling
hard and the wind was blowing through the huge dark forest, a big, strong-looking
coyote came running through a clearing. It had grayish-black fur and yellow
eyes that seemed to pierce right through you. Panting and exhausted, he
stepped into a hidden steel trap and fell to his knees in sheer pain. The
trap had been cleverly hidden under the brown and yellow autumn leaves.
For some time he lay there whimpering and helpless.
A young boy, about twelve years of age, saw him
and picked up a stick. He carefully approached the coyote and circled around
him, looking for the best way to release him. Finally, he knew there was
only one thing to do- he must bravely approach the animal and put the stick
in between the teeth of the trap and push them apart. So he slowly approached
the steel-gray trap and the snarling coyote. The coyote bit the stick and
it suddenly snapped. The boy, who was more scared than ever, slowly stroked
the coyote's soft fur. The coyote backed away. There were a hundred thoughts
were going through his mind - would the coyote bite him or would it let
him help . The boy pried open the trap . The coyote hesitated and finally
made a great effort to take his paw out.
The boy looked at the coyote's leg and said, "You'd
better come with me."
When they came to a hut, the boy was sweating
from carrying the coyote.
They went inside the hut. There was not much in
the hut, but it was warm. The coyote laid down and when the boy came back,
a man was with him.
He had black hair and blue eyes. The man's clothes
looked old and he had a deep voice. He kept saying to the coyote .
"Don't worry, I'm not going to hurt you."
H e put something on the coyote's leg, the coyote
was not sure what it was but it stung. They put a bandage on his leg. He
gave him some food and he went to sleep.
Weeks passed by and the boy and the coyote got
very close but, then one morning the coyote left. The boy was very sad,
but once in a while the coyote would visit them. He would come and watch
the boy from the top of a hill.
